Friday night's SmackDown saw CM Punk make his shocking return to WWE alongside Paul Heyman. The WWE Hall of Famer named the Second City Saint the mystery fifth man who will join Roman Reigns' OG Bloodline alongside The Usos and Sami Zayn.

They'll take on Solo Sikoa's new Bloodline at Survivor Series: WarGames later this month and fans are champing at the bit to see what all this means and whether Reigns and Punk can work together as a team.

According to Fightful Select, Michael Kirshenbaum and Colin Clark wrote SmackDown's opening and closing segments. Michael Hayes, who recently took some time off due to undisclosed personal reasons, was listed as a producer for both promos.

We'd also imagine Hayman was heavily involved as he is with all things Bloodline in WWE.

During a recent interview with Cheap Heat, Punk talked more about the wrestlers he'd like to work with in the company now Drew McIntyre is in his rearview mirror.

"The list is pretty lengthy. I think Chad Gable is on the top of the list. I think Bronson Reed is on the top of the list," he said, mentioning the formidable heavyweight who will also be in that WarGames match. "[Ludwig] Kaiser is somebody I see a lot in - I think it'd be fun. Gunther, and I'm selfishly talking about guys that I would love to wrestle on house shows."

"I think whenever myself and Roman Reigns are face-to-face on television, I think that's going to be a moment. I think the table is set for myself and Cody [Rhodes]. You never know when The Rock's going to come back."

Punk would go on to reiterate previous remarks that he's eager to share the ring with John Cena again ahead of his planned 2025 retirement tour.

"And there's big match John [Cena] coming right around the corner, another guy that I don't want to talk about because he's going to do his own thing, and if I'm a part of that, what a fortunate career I've had. But yeah, I'd love to get hands on him too," Punk noted.

WWE has also released some new unseen footage of Punk's WWE return at last year's Survivor Series: WarGames which you can see below.
