During last Monday's episode of RAW, Liv Morgan injured her shoulder during the opening moments of a match with Kairi Sane. We're still waiting on an official update, but it's been widely reported that she suffered a dislocated shoulder.
It's a worst-case scenario for Morgan, as we've heard she'll require surgery and is likely to be out of action for up to six months. That means she'll miss the rest of 2025. A return at next year's Royal Rumble is now the most likely outcome, but her recent push has been completely derailed.
CM Punk is no stranger to injuries, as those have similarly ruined creative plans for him in AEW and WWE in recent years. Appearing on Kevin Hart's Cold As Balls show at Fanatics Fest this weekend, the Best in the World singled Morgan out as his MVP of 2025.
"Shoutout to Liv Morgan who recently got injured, she was like my MVP for the year," Punk said. "I look at people like Liv who probably started right after I left, 2014-ish, and just from the time I’ve been around her and been able to see her work, just the way she’s developed this last year and just broken out of her shell and turned into this little worker, it kinda warms my heart."
"I missed her the first part of the journey, but to be here, see her grow into who she's become," the Second City Saint continued. "It’s disappointing she got injured, but it’s part of the process, nobody gets out alive is what I like to say, when you do this, it’s just part of the job."
The plan for Morgan had been for her and Raquel Rodriguez to defend the Women's Tag Team Championships against the Bella Twins at Evolution 2. WWE also appears to be building to her challenging IYO SKY for the Women's World Championship, likely at Night of Champions or Saturday Night's Main Event.
As for Punk, he'll go one-on-one with John Cena at Night of Champions this Saturday, with the Undisputed WWE Championship on the line. If he wins, then we can look forward to another Summer of Punk.
