CM Punk and Kevin Nash shared the ring in 2011, and they didn't exactly become fast friends. The WWE Hall of Famer disapproved of what the Second City Saint was saying on the mic during their feud (even when, objectively speaking, there was some truth to it), and their war of words has continued in the press ever since.
During the pre-taped December 22 edition of RAW, Punk teamed with Rey Mysterio to battle Austin Theory and Bron Breakker in the show's main event. The Best in the World wore a t-shirt during the bout, and that's a major sticking point for the former nWo member.
"I watched [CM] Punk in the main event of that match last Monday," Nash said on a recent edition of his podcast. "Number one, if you’re the Heavyweight Champion of the WWE and you wrestle in a t-shirt? Ouch. Number two, his punches looked really slow, he looked slow. I think he’s done."
Talking about Punk's upcoming World Heavyweight Championship match with Breakker on the January 6 edition of RAW, Nash stated, "I think Bron [Breakker] should beat him."
The vast majority of fans don't agree with Nash's assessment, and these comments have seemingly found their way to the WWE Superstar. At a recent WWE Live Event, Punk made a point of removing his shirt...to reveal another shirt beneath it! Clearly, he's trolling Nash here.
Nash is pretty outspoken, something that's apparent from his take on Gunther retiring John Cena at Saturday Night's Main Event earlier this month. While these comments are a little more balanced, it does seem a tad unfair to The Ring General.
"He doesn’t have real heat," he said. "He has manufactured heat. It’s the closest thing that there is to heat on that show. But he doesn’t have heat. It’s like last week when he came out and so his music plays, and then his graphic plays. Then he goes out and cuts a promo, and then Pierce comes out and tells him to get the f**k out of the building."
"So they played his music, played his entrance, gave him a microphone, he cut a promo, but when he got done, it’s time to get the f**k out of the building," Nash continued. "Because you’re a bad guy, and you got heat."
