At WrestleMania last Sunday, Cody Rhodes became the latest WWE Superstar to fall before Roman Reigns.
It was an even more baffling creative decision than Drew McIntyre's loss to the Head of the Table at Clash at the Castle last September, and a disappointing way to end Rhodes' quest for the WWE Championship. The perfect fairytale ending at the Show of Shows would have been for him to dethrone Roman and make his father proud, but nope!
While we're sure Cody will get another shot down the line (the upcoming WWE Draft could even split the belts), fans have not shied away from expressing their anger at the decision.
Now, the Royal Rumble winner has taken to Instagram to break his silence.
"A long week. I know last Sunday was not the result I’d hoped for, and I know many fans were disappointed as well," Rhodes says in the Instagram post below. "I make no excuses. I lost. I’d be remiss if I didn’t tell you how much I enjoyed the ride...until Sunday night, and furthermore Monday night."
After thanking a variety of people, Rhodes revealed: "I want to be your champion. This Monday I hope to speak about my future with WWE and what may be next for me."
We're guessing that's a feud with Brock Lesnar based on what happened during RAW, and while that should be entertaining, it's hard not to wish this was his first rivalry as champion!
