Cody Rhodes Comments On Daniel Bryan Seemingly Laying Down A Challenge For His Newly-Won ROH Championship

As we know, Daniel Bryan has been teasing a return to the ring as soon as his WWE contact is up - but could we actually see the former American Dragon challenge Cody Rhodes for his newly-won ROH championship?

Cody Rhodes defeated Christopher Daniels to become the Ring of Honor World Champion recently, and in an exciting cross-promotional tease, Smackdown Live General manager Daniel Bryan wasted little time in appearing to challenge him for the title... provided The American Nightmare is still champ when Bryan's WWE contract expires, that is.

Though Bryan has been teasing a return to the ring recently, it's obviously still very much up in the air, and Rhodes thinks fans may have been jumping the gun somewhat by taking his comments as a legitimate challenge.

Here's what the former WWE Intercontinental Champion has to say during an interview with Sports Illustrated:

“I don’t think it was a challenge, just fun,” said Rhodes. “Daniel Bryan remains one of my friends. Final Countdown would be a welcomed tune, even as a competitor. I have always looked up to Dan. It would be major, major box office for all involved.”

This dream match seems like fantasy booking right now, but who knows what could happen when Bryan's contract expires next year.
