Cody Rhodes Confirms That Travis Scott Busted His Eardrum; Reflects On WRESTLEMANIA 40 Main Event

Cody Rhodes battled Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Championship at WrestleMania 39, but came up short against the Tribal Chief. However, the following year saw them do battle once again, leading to the American Nightmare finally finishing his story when he scored the 1-2-3.

It's one of the most emotional WrestleMania main events ever, and Rhodes understandably feels that it deserves to rank among the greatest of all time, as well. That's a sentiment we're sure many of you reading this would agree with.

Asked to name some of the best matches he's ever seen, the former AEW said, "The first one we watch is Sting versus Ric Flair from The Great American Bash. And the second one is we watch Bret Hart versus Mr. Perfect from SummerSlam. Yeah, those two."

"I might say WrestleMania 40, which I’m in," Rhodes continued. "I went from being the guy who was away from there, trash talking it, started a whole ’nother thing and to come in, earn my place back and then them say hey, it’s all yours. Like literally, like how? How? Yeah, so it might be 40."

Rhodes will attempt to regain the WWE Championship from John Cena at this weekend's SummerSlam PLE, potentially ending a rivalry that's been playing out since March's Elimination Chamber. There, Rhodes was attacked by a heel Cena and rapper Travis Scott.

It's been widely reported that Scott busted Rhodes' eardrum after Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson instructed him to slap the downed babyface.

"I wish I could tell you it wasn’t true. Because I wanted anyone else to have the credit for that," Rhodes shared. "So, you’ve got Rock in the ring. You’ve got Cena in the ring. But my man Travis, who, nothing but love for, he has a big old hand. So yes, it did bust my eardrum. If anyone ever wonders why I didn’t slap him, first hit him with a Cross Rhodes, he’s gracing us with his presence."

"Wrestling right now, again we’re getting all these fun folks but years ago it wasn’t that easy. And now here he comes. I want you to come back man. Our house is your house. You know, maybe swing less but our house is your house. So yeah, no, Travis did do that, that’s a fact," he added.

It's since been reported that WWE and Scott have had a falling out after the rapper flaked on his planned Money in the Bank appearance, so chances are we won't see him and Rhodes square off again.
