During the first hour of the June 23, 2025 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw, a video package explained the future absence of Liv Morgan, showing her dislocated shoulder injury from last week. It was followed by a backstage segment with Raw General Manager Adam Pearce talking on the phone with SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis about what to do regarding Morgan's half of the WWE Women's Tag Team Championship titles.
Pearce hung up with Aldis in order to talk to AJ Styles, who he had called into his office to tell that his scheduled match against Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship, which was meant to go down this Saturday, June 28th at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, was no longer going to happen.
The excuse was that Mysterio has an injury and isn't cleared by the medical team. Styles was skeptical, asking if Dom had strained his mustache, but Pearce claimed it was legitimate and promised The Phenomenal One that as soon as Mysterio gets medically cleared, Styles will be the first in line for a title shot.
Later in the program, there was a backstage segment where Karrion Kross continued to get under the skin of Sami Zayn, reminding him that he had prophecized that Zayn would lose to Randy Orton in the King of the Ring semifinals, which is exactly what happened. Zayn punched Kross in the mouth, and they're now scheduled to face off at the premium live event.
On top of that, there was an in-ring promo segment where Raquel Rodriguez called out Rhea Ripley. The two fought and Roxanne Perez came out to help make it a two-on-one scrap, aiding Rodriguez enough to the point that The Eradicator was put through one of the Slim Jim tables. Ripley then stormed into Adam Pearce's office to demand a match against Rodriguez, and he offered her a Street Fight at Night of Champions.
This has now brought the card for Night of Champions to the following lineup:
- Street Fight: Raquel Rodriguez vs. Rhea Ripley
- Karrion Kross vs. Sami Zayn
- United States Championship Match: Jacob Fatu (c) vs. Solo Sikoa
- King of the Ring Tournament Final: Cody Rhodes or Jey Uso vs. Randy Orton
- Queen of the Ring Tournament Final: Asuka vs. Jade Cargill
- Undisputed WWE Championship Match: John Cena (c) vs CM Punk
