UPDATE: Here's the latest update from Dave Meltzer:
"He was hurting today, and he’s going to get examined. Normally, you would go to TV and get examined. There’s no TV until a week from Monday. I was told he’s getting examined at some point this week, probably by a doctor there to see what’s wrong with his shoulder."
"It’s premature to say anything as far as the severity of it, but shoulder injuries are very common, and it’s probably not a good thing. It could be Penta who’s touch and go. Seth needed surgery. Hopefully, he doesn’t need surgery right now, because that would put him out for months. Right now, we don’t know."
Dominik Mysterio has been pulling double duty for a while now, competing both at WWE shows and for AAA. Over the weekend, he wrestled at the AAA Guerra de Titanes event in Guadalajara, Mexico, teaming with El Grande Americano to battle his father, Rey Mysterio, and Rey Fenix.
However, it's now being reported that The Judgement Day member suffered a legitimate shoulder injury. According to Bryan Alvarez, it occurred during the closing moments of the match when Dominik took a DDT from Rey.
Dominik appeared unable to use his arm as he exited the ring. As Alvarez explains it, "Dom injured his shoulder taking the DDT from his dad near the end of tonight’s main event. Based on how he landed, my presumption is it’s likely a shoulder separation, which, depending on the severity, could be a short-term injury, or worst-case scenario surgery."
"But we won’t know anything until he gets evaluated. He could barely use the arm at all," he added.
This injury couldn't come at a worse time for Mysterio. Not only has he recently regained the Intercontinental Championship from John Cena, but the Royal Rumble is fast approaching, as is the Road to WrestleMania.
If Dominik does require surgery, we can expect him to likely miss the Rumble and possibly even the Showcase of the Immortals. That would be a real shame, so here's hoping the injury isn't as serious as it currently appears.
During last Monday's episode of RAW, Mysterio broke his silence on defeating Cena at Survivor Series: WarGames. "Byron, I feel absolutely fantastic about it," the heel started. "The fact that I’m the last person to ever beat the greatest of all time for a championship."
He continued, "I think that makes me the greatest Mysterio of all time, the greatest AAA Mega Campeon of all time, and the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all time."
Stay tuned for updates on Dirty Dom's status as we have them.
