The match is still happening.
For those that are left in the dark, Jacob Fatu is reportedly injured. BodySlam stated that the injury will keep Fatu out of action until 2026. Neither Fatu or WWE has addressed this rumor. In fact, the former United States Champion is still scheduled to face WWE Champion Drew McIntyre tonight.
With that recent news coming out, fans are skeptical about Fatu actually competing on Smackdown; however, Drew McIntyre addressed their concerns by confirming that the match will take place regardless of the recent news that’s come out.
“I’m back in my home away from home recently. Looking through my head right now, but I guess it’s always the same result — no matter what happens to me, I don’t give up. Call it stubbornness, call it determination, I don’t care. The one thing you will call me is justified. The latest brick wall put in front of me is Jacob Fatu, one of the baddest guys on the roster. This match is going to happen tomorrow and I have to win. It didn’t have to happen, though. Jacob, you stepped up in my business a few weeks ago when I had nothing to do with you and then you dropped me with one damn calf.
If that wasn’t bad enough, the following week, you ran your mouth. You’re no different than everyone else in a lot of ways. I mean, you’re a hypocrite. He literally said, ‘Drew, you run your mouth too much’ while running your mouth. I’ll give you your due, I see a lot of me in you. I mean, I flew all the way across the world to drop you because you pumped me out. I guarantee that if it was the other way around, you’d do exactly the same.
I hate, hate your family and I’ve been in the ring with all of them. If you’re as bad as you say you are, you’re better than every one of them. At least that’s what I think you’re saying, you talk in mostly soundbites and catchphrases that I can barely follow. This match, it’s a guaranteed war. This is a match nobody should miss. It’s a match that I have to win. Tomorrow, Drew McIntyre derails the Jacob Fatu hype train by any means necessary.”
Is Jacob Fatu really going to fight when he’s injured? We’ll find out on Smackdown. It’s also possible that the report is false and Fatu could be completely fine; however, BodySlam has a good reputation when it comes to reporting on these topics, so it would be a surprise if the report is completely false. Either way, Jacob Fatu vs. Drew McIntyre just got more interesting.
