Lex Luger is officially going into the WWE Hall of Fame!
In the midst of a busy week where the wrestling world was still reeling from the shocking John Cena heel turn, WWE surprised the 66-year-old by sending Cody Rhodes to give the news to the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion. Prior to that, there had been some mystery as to why Luger was not inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame yet.
Some suspected that the former WWE star’s ties to Miss Elizabeth’s death may have prevented him getting an induction sooner, though there’s no confirmation on that claim whatsoever. On his recent appearance with Chris Van Vliet, he spoke about the WWE legend (who was his girlfriend at the time) and he denied killing Miss Elizabeth, but he does say that he was a contributing factor to her lifestyle.
Either way, it’s nice to see Luger get his long awaited inducted into the Hall of Fame. Luger’s career expanded beyond the WWE. He first made a name for himself in WCW, where he was one of the most over acts in the promotion at one point. Luger won the WCW World Heavyweight Championship twice. Though his attempted main event run in WWE was a bust, Luger’s still has plenty of matches and feuds that fans remember fondly. The new WWE Hall of Famer was just on Busted Open Radio and discussed the two guys he would like with him for his WWE speech (courtesy of Fightful):
"A couple of people have been discussed. I'm kind of going for, have you guys heard of a double header? I'm not long winded. When I speak, I'll be a few minutes. So, maybe, could I have more than one guy up there with me? I have two guys in mind. It's got to go up through the chain of command with various people. We shall see. Stay tuned."
Congratulations to Lex Luger! He joins Michelle McCool and Triple H in the 2025 Class of the Hall of Fame. WWE just announced that the Hall of Fame will take place at the Fontainebleau Las Vegas on April 18, Friday at 10pm after WWE Smackdown. Stay tuned as several more names are expected to be announced soon. Interestingly, the rumors regarding the Hall of Fame haven’t been rampant as the names announced so far were never rumored to be in the upcoming class. It’s not clear how many more names are expected to be announced, but it should be interesting to see who joins the other three talents in the 2025 pool.
