Despite being a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Jack Swagger's WWE career has been very stop and start over the past few years. While his "We The People!" gimmick proved to be very popular, he soon vanished from television after splitting with tag team partner Cesaro and feuds with Alberto Del Rio and Baron Corbin went nowhere.
Things were seemingly looking up for Swagger when he made the leap from RAW to SmackDown Live, but he's received little in the way of TV time since then.
That could explain why he's now requested his release from WWE, and while the company has yet to issue an official press release, he confirmed on Chael Sonnen's "Beyond the Fight" podcast that he's parted ways with them and that his decision was basically "a business decision."
"It’s still kind of an ongoing process right now," Swagger added. "Basically, it came down to contract negotiations, and we were way off. They didn’t value me at what I thought I was valued at. They weren’t giving me the opportunity to make the full amount of income I could for my family, so when you put it like that — it’s time to go."
Swagger clearly believes he can make more elsewhere, possibly in TNA or on the independent circuit. Considering the fact he's been kept off TV for a while now, it's hardly a surprise that WWE didn't offer him big money, but are you upset to think he's no longer with the company?
