Where is AJ Lee?
After ten long years, the former WWE Diva’s Champion officially made her in-ring return at WrestlePalooza. While the match wasn’t perfect, Lee still looked great and she managed to make the Women’s Intercontinental Championship tap.
Now Becky Lynch has tried to come up with a million excuses on why she lost that match. In fact, the RAW star has settled on a bee costing her a match at ESPN PLE.
Whether a bee interfered or not, Becky Lynch tapped to AJ Lee, which would naturally make her the rightful number one contender. The 38-year-old has teased going after the I.C. title, but she hasn’t been on WWE television since WrestlePalooza.
What happened?
The good news is that AJ isn’t injured. The WWE star addresses the concerns of fans on a now deleted Facebook post by revealing that she’s on a book tour.
"On a book tour. Not injured, but I appreciate the concern. Also, thanks Becky Lynch for keeping the title warm for me. Momma will be back, soon."
In the meantime, Becky is feuding with Maxxine Dupri, who owns two victories over the Women’s Intercontinental Champion. Becky tried to explain her reasoning by claiming Dupri had used illegal fists during the match that should've gotten her disqualified. However, as funny as that excuse is, it doesn’t erase that she’s lost to Maxxine two times in a row. It’s unknown when, but there’s likely going to be a third match between Maxxine and Becky.
As far as AJ goes, she signed a multi-year deal with WWE, so WrestlePalooza wasn’t just a one off event. At the moment, it’s unknown when Lee will make her return, but it is expected of Lee to pick up her feud against Becky Lynch. Given the timing, it wouldn’t be surprising if AJ vs. Becky was saved for WrestleMania. That’s just speculation on my end as there’s been no reports about the big show next year. However, once these two re-ignite their rivalry, it should be a very fun lead-up since both are excellent on the mic.
