Was Jey Uso's singles run a failure? He started the year by winning the 30-man Royal Rumble match, earning a shot at Gunther's World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania.
The former Bloodline member won the match, but had a largely forgettable run with the title. Since then, his entrance has remained hugely over with fans, but it's otherwise felt a lot like WWE doesn't know what to do with Jey.
That's been evident from a recent string of losses and repeated hints at a heel turn for the former Intercontinental and World Heavyweight Champion. If a heel run was in the works, it may have been put on hold as last night's RAW saw Jey officially return to the tag team division alongside his twin brother, Jimmy.
The Usos are back, and during a confrontation with The New Day and World Tag Team Champions AJ Lee and Dragon Lee, Jimmy reeled off his siblings' recent failures, explaining that a reunion was his idea. Are The Usos teaming again, only for Jey to turn heel by attacking Jimmy? We'll have to wait and see.
"I never thought I’d be a top singles star," Jey said earlier this year. "Being the best tag team with my brother was the number one goal, but now I’m going from the preshow to the main event. It’s been an adjustment without my brother by my side, and I’m just now feeling OK on my own as a singles wrestler."
"I hear the naysayers," he continued. "They are saying I don’t deserve this opportunity and I can’t win, but it took 15 years to get here and now I have one shot after my number got called and I’m going to answer the damn call … and then we’re going to go party with the whole family, Vegas style."
The return of The Usos to RAW's tag team division is undeniably exciting, especially as the division as a whole will benefit greatly from a boost of any sort. If Jey's single run really is over, then it's a shame for him, but being back by Jimmy's side does feel like a better use of his talents in many ways.
