WWE Releases Include The New Day's Kofi Kingston And Xavier Woods, Former Bloodline Members

WWE has released more Superstars, and this time there are some even bigger shocks, including the departure of The New Day's Xavier Woods and former WWE Champion—and 20-year WWE veteran—Kofi Kingston.

Last month, WWE released 25 main roster and NXT Superstars. There were some surprises, including the entire Wyatt Sicks faction, but today's releases are even more jaw-dropping.

Multiple outlets are reporting that The New Day's Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods have mutually parted ways with the company. Both are multi-time champions (Kingston famously rode the #KofiMania momentum to his first WWE Championship win at WrestleMania 35), and have been heels since turning on Big E.

Despite initially being among the most hated bad guys on the roster, it never led to anything significant, and they've since fallen into the background, where they were most recently paired up with Grayson Waller for some reason. This release gives them both a chance to reinvent themselves elsewhere.

The MFT faction led by Solo Sikoa has also lost a couple of members. JC Mateo and Tanga Loa are both gone from WWE, despite joining WWE with a great deal of fanfare as new members of The Bloodline.

Mateo never really made much of an impact, while Loa became best known on social media for some pretty embarrassing botches.

There's no word on why these releases have happened, but is presumably to cut costs and because WWE had no creative plans for them moving forward. It's previously been reported that the company is looking to focus on younger talent from NXT, who they believe have the potential to be future main eventers.

As a reminder, Triple H is the one who makes the final decision on these releases, and he's likely to face even more backlash for not finding a way to keep The New Day.

This is a developing story, and we'll keep you updated if more names are added to this list of releases in the coming hours.
