Goldberg Feels That WWE Broke His Undefeated Streak Record On Purpose

The former WCW World Heavyweight Champion is still frustrated with WWE, but this time it's about his undefeated record that was broken eight years ago.

Goldberg is not happy with WWE.

This was evident following his retirement match against Gunther where he told Ariel Helwani that he was pissed over the way he went out.

But that’s not the only thing that Goldberg isn’t happy about.

The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion is still irked that Asuka surpassed his undefeated streak. During his time in WCW. Goldberg managed to win 173 consecutive matches during the Monday Night Wars.

Asuka beat Goldberg’s record years ago. Back when she had her incredible undefeated streak that ended at WrestleMania 34, the “Empress of Tomorrow” managed to rack up 914 wins. Goldberg hasn’t been shy in the past about Asuka washing away his historic undefeated run and the WWE Hall of Famer continues to lament about “some girl” beating his undefeated streak.

“They did it on purpose.” Goldberg stated on Real Talk with Mike Burke when the host proclaimed that another streak like his will never happen again. “I have nothing against the girl, by any means, but yeah. The whole WWE experience…I was part of WCW when we were kicking their ass in the Monday Night Wars. I didn’t know what was going on at the time, I was just on one of the sides.

Now, one side dissolves and the other one consumes everything, so they can treat everyone and everything the way they want. I think there is always going to be the bird in their ass that I was part of a company where I was the champion in a very short period of time and we were beating them in the ratings.”

This isn’t the first time that Goldberg has brought up the issue of Asuka breaking his historic record. Though he originally congratulated Asuka for beating the record back in 2017, Goldberg feels that the company did it to spite him. His true feelings about the undefeated streak being broken came out in 2024 on Tim Green - Nothing Left Unsaid” podcast when he blasted Vince McMahon and highlighted Asuka taking away his undefeated streak.

“Well, a girl beat my winning streak...beat my undefeated streak. Yeah, I can’t even remember. Aso͞oka is her name, some Japanese girl. And they touted her as being the one to have the longest winning streak. And it just so happened that that culminated when I got there, right? And then it just so happened that every single wrestler uses the spear in their moves, right? Pretty ironic that that happened when I got there, right? So, that’s how they do it.”

If Goldberg ever comes out with another book then expect a lot of hatred for his time in WWE. While Vince has been notoriously petty about numerous things, it’s highly unlikely that Asuka's streak was designed to break Goldberg’s. Of course, I’m not in Vince head or in his circle, so we’ll never truly know.
