When he was still part of the NXT roster, Matt Riddle would frequently taunt WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg on social media and in interviews. He clearly wanted a match with the WCW legend, and when they crossed paths backstage a few years ago...it was a very tense meeting.
In the past, Goldberg hasn't shied away from making his feelings about Riddle clear, but it seems his opinion has changed. Well, at least to some extent, anyway.
"The cocky kid [Riddle] spouting off his mouth in the beginning, and I didn’t appreciate it very much by any stretch of the imagination," Goldberg told DAZN during a recent interview to hype his match with WWE Champion Bobby Lashley this Saturday. "But the guy has put in a lot of frickin hard work and a lot of hard work, and he’s dedicated his life to this business."
"Whether I like him as a human being or not, I have to understand and appreciate his passion for the business and his work ethic," he continued. "Because he works hard and that I appreciate as an athlete and as a human. Is he a prick sometimes? Absolutely. But that’s him. That’s his character, and so am I."
Clearly, these two have made peace at some point, and we'd still like to see that match become a reality. However, just like Goldberg will have his hands full with Lashley at the PPV, it was confirmed during last night's RAW that Riddle will team up with Randy Orton to challenge AJ Styles and Omos for the RAW Tag Team Championships during the show.
Would you like Goldberg vs. Riddle to become a reality?
