It was announced earlier tonight on WWE Monday Night Raw that Iyo Sky would get her title opportunity against Liv Morgan for the Women's World Championship at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event. Not to be outdone and forgotten, the men's world title has also now been booked for the show.

Added to the lineup will be a World Heavyweight Championship bout as "The Ring General" GUNTHER will defend his title against the leader of The Judgment Day, Finn Balor.

For those who may have missed WWE Survivor Series: WarGames 2024, Gunther successfully defended the World Heavyweight Championship against Damian Priest, but not fully on his own accord. Finn Balor had interfered, attacking Damian Priest to ensure he would come up short. Gunther, not wanting to win the match with anyone's help, kicked Balor for his efforts, but was eager to capitalize on his down opponent nevertheless.

As a result of that, along with how Gunther had originally won the title from Priest in the first place at WWE SummerSlam 2024 by proxy of Balor interfering and costing Priest the title, Balor felt a title opportunity was obliged. Gunther didn't quite feel the same, and instead, awarded a match to Dominik Mysterio, who had recently gotten a victory over Priest.

On tonight's episode of WWE Monday Night Raw, Dirty Dom was beaten by this year's King of the Ring, but Balor decided to attack Gunther after the match to make a statement, hitting a Coup de Grace on him three times.

Backstage, Balor asked Raw General Manager Adam Pearce when he would get his title match. Pearce, who wasn't impressed by that display, said "Funny enough, I talked to Gunther. He wants the match just as bad as you do. So it looks like you get your wish. Finn Balor vs. Gunther for the World's Heavyweight Championship at Saturday Night's Main Event. One more thing, next week, let's talk about your OTHER title match", implying that Balor will have to put the WWE World Tag Team Championship on the line against likely The War Raiders (Erik and Ivar) soon, possibly even next monday night.

WWE Saturday Night's Main Event is set for December 14, 2024 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Long Island, New York.

This brings the updated lineup for Saturday Night's Main Event to the following card:

  • Tournament Final for the Inaugural WWE Women's United States Championship: TBD vs. TBD
  • Singles Match for the Undisputed WWE Championship: Cody Rhodes (c) vs. Kevin Owens
  • Singles Match for the Women's World Championship: Liv Morgan (c) vs. Iyo Sky
  • Singles Match for the World Heavyweight Championship: GUNTHER (c) vs. Finn Balor
