The Last Time is Now tournament to determine John Cena's final opponent for his retirement match at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event on December 13th now have a set finals, after the semifinals bouts from WWE Monday Night Raw.
On the show, LA Knight defeated Jey Uso by reversing a splash from Uso into a pinning predicament. Getting caught like that and losing sent Jey into an angry fit, where he lashed out at the ringside area in frustration.
Later, he would say in a backstage interview with Jackie Redmond that the only person to blame is himself. Roman Reigns said it best, that the world title looks best around his shoulders, and not Jey's.
LA Knight's opponent will be Gunther, as The Ring General defeated Solo Sikoa. Talla Tonga interfered and was caught by the referee, giving Gunther a chance to low-blow him and break free. While the referee was still yelling at Talla Tonga and debating whether or not to disqualify Sikoa, Gunther took advantage of the referee's distraction and delivered a low blow to Sikoa as well. He then followed it with a powerbomb and picked up the pinfall.
Gunther had a quick face-to-face with Knight after the match when Knight came out to put him on notice about their finals match, which is set to go down at Friday Night SmackDown this week (December 5th).
The winner of the match will be appearing on next week's Monday Night Raw (December 8th) as well, already promoted for some kind of promo segment to address how they've won the tournament and build up hype for the Saturday Night's Main Event match, which would be that following weekend.
What do you think of the finals being Gunther and LA Knight? Who do you think will win the tournament? Will that person end up beating John Cena? Drop your comments below!
