Gunther's WRESTLEMANIA Status Uncertain Due To WWE Hall Of Famer's Injury - SPOILERS

After retiring Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles, Gunther is on quite a roll in WWE. However, it's looking increasingly likely that he won't have a match at this April's WrestleMania.

It's been an incredible year for former World Heavyweight Champion Gunther. He's retired WWE Hall of Famer Goldberg, John Cena, and AJ Styles, and that means expectations are high for his match at this April's WrestleMania

Unfortunately, as of now, The Ring General still doesn't have an opponent. With Brock Lesnar confirmed to face Oba Femi at the Show of Shows in Las Vegas, they're both off the table, taking us back to another rumoured name: WWE Hall of Famer Rey Mysterio.

According to BodySlam.net, The Master of the 619's injury could leave the Austrian Superstar without an opponent at WrestleMania. The idea behind Gunther's recent feud with Dragon Lee was to set up a match with Mysterio.

However, it seems the healing process is taking longer than expected. If Mysterio isn't ready in time, Gunther may not compete on the Grandest Stage of Them All. Hopefully, WWE plans to pivot to anocther opponent, but as of now, it seems no decision has been made on that front.

Mysterio recently confirmed he was injured on the January 26 episode of RAW when he faced The Vision's Austin Theory. "Much better than when it actually happened," he said of how he's currently doing. "That injury occurred on January 27, which was the Monday leading into the Rumble, fractured ribs both left and right, so those take a little bit of time to heal, but on the way up."

Gunther hasn't been seen on RAW since March 2, when he defeated Lee and unmasked him. WWE seems to have put the storyline on pause since then, and time is now running out for this bout to be set up in time for WrestleMania on April 18 and April 19.

During a recent interview with Cody Rhodes, Gunther opened up on his current spot in WWE. "I like my role and how I do it. I don't have it in me to be wanting to be the guy that is at the very mountaintop, and everybody looks up to him," he shared.

"I admire you [Cody Rhodes] sometimes for what you do, because I couldn't. I would not be able to have that much fan interaction, to have that much media interaction, and all of that. And you do it really good. That's not for me. I wanna be at the top, but in a different role and contribute that way."
