During last Saturday's Royal Rumble PLE, Oba Femi entered the Men's match first and was quickly followed by Bron Breakker at #2. However, before the former Intercontinental Champion could even enter the ring, he was violently attacked by a hooded Superstar.
Like Austin Theory when he was hiding behind a mask, this mystery wrestler used Seth Rollins moves and weakened Breakker to the point where Femi was able to immediately eliminate him.
Theories about who attacked The Vision member have dominated social media, with guesses ranging from Adam Pearce to Logan Paul (or his brother Jake Paul), and even Rollins himself.
Now, a new rumour claims to set the record straight: Theory's previous tag team partner, Grayson Waller, was reportedly the man in the hood.
Fans are convinced that Theory is secretly working with Rollins, and WWE never really explored his breakup with Waller following their lengthy run as a tag team. As well as competing in NXT, recent months have seen Waller teaming with The New Day. However, he was pulled from shows before the Rumble last weekend.
Last year, he said, "I’ve got rid of the dead weight of Austin Theory, and this is the best I’ve ever felt in my life. I feel so good. I’m in the best shape of my life. Do you know how hard it is to deal with someone with an IQ of 65? That might be high. I saw him on the plane. He said, 'I read a really good book.' He was reading The Cat in the Hat, and he was struggling."
There are many directions WWE could take this story if Waller is revealed as Breakker's attacker. He could be secretly allied with Theory or out to sabotage his former friend. We also can't discount the possibility that Waller was simply a stand-in for the actual attacker.
Stay tuned for updates as we have them.
