RAW has been struggling a lot lately in terms of ratings, something not helped by the NBA Playoffs. It was just a couple of weeks ago that RAW pulled in its lowest ratings of the year and this week's edition once again got thrashed when it squared off with a basketball game that led to even lower numbers for WWE's flagship show.
RAW drew an average of 2.615 million viewers, the new lowest viewership for the show since last year's Halloween episode.
However, while RAW continues the slow build to Extreme Rules, SmackDown Live was dealing with the fallout from Backlash, a show which saw Jinder Mahal beat Randy Orton to win the WWE World Championship. That's something which clearly generated a lot of interest in it as ratings increased by 7% from last week's edition.
With 2.328 million viewers, SmackDown Live didn't manage to top RAW but that's still a strong uptick for the Tuesday night programme and quite possibly a very good sign for Mahal as champion if WWE believes this is a result of the heat generated by putting the title on him! Next week should be very interesting...
