Cody Rhodes, Randy Orton, CM Punk, and Seth Rollins are among those who have condemned the actions of disgraced former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon following a disturbing series of sexual abuse allegations.
John Cena, however, continues to stand up for his former boss and longtime friends. They have a close relationship, and shortly after McMahon's forced retirement, Cena was photographed alongside the billionaire, suggesting he'd chosen to stand by his pal, despite any potential backlash.
However, even after a fresh round of claims since that photo was taken, Cena still isn't willing to speak out against Vince. In fact, it seems his opinion of the man alleged to have emotionally, mentally, and physically abused a young woman is unchanged.
"Everybody’s entitled to their opinion," the current Undisputed WWE Champion told Us Weekly. "Just like I’m entitled to have an emotional connection to somebody. I don’t hold anybody or how they feel or what they view as permissible or things that’ll make them angry, happy, excited, sad. That’s their right as a human being."
Asked how he feels about the backlash from fans, Cena simply responded, "I’m not surprised about any of that."
This comes after a New York Times profile last month that saw him say, "I don’t care who hears it: I love Vince. I’m not downplaying anything that needs to be decided or allegations of any kind, but when I love somebody, I love them wholeheartedly."
Cena added, "I know people are going to be angry about that, but they can’t put their value on my relationship with somebody I love."
Ultimately, McMahon hasn't been found guilty of any crimes, and until that changes, Cena's career likely won't suffer from continuing to associate with the man who helped turn him into a household name.
2025 is John Cena's retirement tour, with his last match currently expected to take place in December. He's also working on multiple film and television projects, including DC Studios' Peacemaker season 2. You can watch the trailer for that here.
