Karrion Kross could be on his way out soon.
According to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Kross’ WWE contract expires sometime this summer. The report states that neither party has started the negotiation process, but WWE’s has been impressed with the former NXT Champion in recent months. With the way Kross has been able to get himself over on social media and his backstage segments, it does sound like the company plans on keeping the 39-year-old. However, that’s last part is pure speculation as Sapp’s report never states clearly that officials are keen on keeping the RAW Superstar.
Kross has had only one match in 2025. That’s a random bout against Akira Tozawa on Main Event (Yep, that still exists). However, Kross has been a crucial piece to several storylines such as The New Day’s recent heel turn, AJ Styles, and Sami Zayn.
Styles is facing Logan Paul at WrestleMania 41 so a potential match between them is off the table. There’s some possibility that Sami Zayn vs. Karrion Kross could happen at WrestleMania, but that’s also a slim chance since the former Intercontinental Champion hasn’t been seen during the WrestleMania season.
Despite the lack of action, Kross is really clicking as a character at the moment. It would be surprising if Kross left WWE, though he has high name value so he’ll be fine should that happen. In terms of his wife Scarlett, it’s not clear if her contract expires this summer as well.
Though Scarlett wrestles regularly on live events, she’s only had two official matches in WWE and those were mixed tag team matches with her husband. It’s strange that Scarlett isn’t used more as a wrestler as she was primarily a wrestler before joining WWE.
Both Karrion and Scarlett made their returns in 2022. Kross came back and immediately feuded with Drew McIntyre. Once that feud fizzled out, Kross mainly floated around the mid-card scene. He briefly had an alliance with The Authors of Pain and that faction even handed The Wyatt Sicks their first loss, but Akam and Rezar were released from their contracts back in February.
Though Karrion originally teased a world title feud with Roman Reigns upon his return, he’s yet to challenge for any of the major belts on the main roster. There’s no word on when WWE and Kross plan on starting the negotiation process. The company is currently focused on WrestleMania, so it likely won’t happen until after the big PLE.
