Kevin Owens successfully completed surgery.

The former WWE Universal Champion confirmed the good news during a recent press conference at Nascar’s Coke Zero 400 race in Daytona Beach, Florida and ensured that everything went as smooth as butter (transcript courtesy of Fightful).

“Yeah, I needed neck fusion. It was very stressful going into it because we weren’t really sure how severe the fusion was going to be, how many levels, all this stuff. Thankfully, it ended up only being one level, which is the best case scenario for something like this. The surgery was successful, I had a great doctor.

But, that doesn’t mean Owens is out of the clear just yet. A neck injury is dangerous and there’s a strong possibility that Kevin’s body may not heal the way it’s supposed to. Owens made no guarantees that he’ll return to the ring, though he confirms that he hopes to come back sometime next year.

"The thing is now we have to see how the bones fuse and there’s no guarantee that it’s going to work. It’s how my body heals, some guys had success, some guys didn’t. Fingers crossed I get to come back to wrestling in the next year, really don’t know though. My goal is to come back so hopefully that happens.” Owens told Scotte Sprinkle.

Kevin Owens has been out since March. Sadly, the serious injury actually occurred back in January. Owens was ready to fight Randy Orton in a grudge match at WrestleMania 41, but the match was pulled from the card when his neck injury was discovered.

The 41-year-old cut a promo on Smackdown and he seemed genuinely saddened as this could be the last time that he steps into a WWE ring. Let’s hope some positive news comes and Owens will be able to kick some ass again in 2026.

The Canada native has been wrestling in WWE for over ten years. But Owens has been wrestling professionally since 2000. If this is truly the end of his career then he should be proud of what he's done throughout his career. He’s consistently entertained fans both in the ring and on the mic, and he’s easily one of the best wrestlers from the black-and-gold era of NXT. But hopefully everything heals and Owens will get back to being the trash talking Canadian everyone hates.

If Kevin Owens returned then who would you want his first opponent to be?
