In recent months, LA Knight has become a firm fan-favourite and perhaps the most over Superstar in WWE. We recently heard that the plan is for him to receive a push after SummerSlam, a relief after he recently failed to secure the opportunity for a shot at the United States Championship.
PWTorch is the latest dirt sheet to reveal that Knight's push will begin in the summer and continue into the fall, with sources informing them that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon has become a big fan of the former Max Dupri.
Considering the fact it was McMahon who saddled Knight with that awful gimmick, he's clearly had a change of heart, and likely respects the way the heel has managed to get over with fans.
It also no doubt helps that Knight is a ratings draw and top merchandise seller!
Interestingly, the report goes on to state that Knight has a history of rubbing people up the wrong way behind the scenes, with the site adding he's "bad at backstage politics." It seems he doesn't necessarily create a great first impression, and there are concerns about this derailing his planned push.
With WWE's management on his side, however, Knight stands a chance of putting himself on the map in a big way. Fans want this to happen and it definitely doesn't feel like the support he's receiving is a flash in the pan.
Knight has found success outside of WWE as both a former IMPACT World Champion and former tag team champion in both that company and NWA. During the time he spent in NXT, he feuded with Cameron Grimes over the Million Dollar Championship in what proved to be a standout storyline.
As you might expect, Knight is riding high...
