On tonight's episode of WWE SmackDown, both of the men's and women's United States Championships were on the line with Chelsea Green facing Michin in a Philly Street Fight and LA Knight challenging Shinsuke Nakamura in the main event.
First up was Green against Michin, wherein Green retained through some helpful interference from a surprise Alba Fyre, who appeared out of nowhere, masked by a hoodie, to not only go after Michin, but to even salute Green, seemingly "pledging allegiance" to the Women's United States champion.
Check out some clips of the match here:
Green can't celebrate for long, though, as she has also made plenty enemies, and we know that Zelina Vega is going to be gunning for her title next, after this backstage segment:
In the main event of the night, the men's U.S. title was on the line. Nakamura had defeated Knight to win that belt back at Survivor Series: WarGames on November 30, 2024, and it took several months for The Defiant One to get back in the challenger's position, so he wasn't going to waste that opportunity to regain his title.
Nakamura almost managed to retain through some shenanigans, as he went for his mist and ended up spraying that in the face of referee Charles Robinson. This prevented a pinfall from being counted where Knight had Nakamura down. But a moment later, Nakamura tried to attack Knight with a steel chair, only for Knight to land a BFT, putting Nakamura down for the count and becoming a two-time United States champion to end the episode with a bang and a huge pop from the audience.
