Lacey Evans left WWE in 2023 when her contract expired, and while she's yet to step back into the ring, she has taken issue with recent comments made by current WWE Superstar Becky Lynch.
At WrestleMania 35 in 2019, Lynch defeated Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair in the main event to become the first-ever RAW and SmackDown's Women's Champions. Immediately after the Show of Shows, "The Man" started feuding with Evans, who had just been called up to the main roster from NXT.
Their feud led to a title defence at Money in the Bank and an eventual mixed tag team match at Stomping Grounds, where Lynch and Seth Rollins defeated Evans and Baron Corbin. Neither the storyline nor the matches were very good, but Evans was said to be a firm favourite of Vince McMahon's at the time.
In a recent interview, Lynch said, "I start working with Lacey Evans right out the gate [after WrestleMania 35]. God bless her, but she wasn’t, you know. For me to go from the main event of WrestleMania to somebody who hadn’t done anything was terrible."
Evans–who now goes by Macey Estrella– wasn't happy to see those comments and hit back at her former rival in a multi-part response on X.
While many fans have rallied around Evans, most have questioned why she felt the need to chime in. Lynch's remarks were simply pointing out that, following the biggest win of her career, it wasn't great that she immediately found herself in a feud with an inexperienced rookie. That did kill her momentum after WrestleMania.
Since leaving WWE, Evans has mostly focused on her family and running a page on an adult subscription website (teases for which she frequently shares on X and Instagram).
