Was Logan Paul vs. John Cena peak professional wrestling?
Most long time fans would say no, but the former United States Champion surely thinks so. Paul and Cena went about 30 minutes at Clash in Paris and for the most part, the first time bout garnered high praise from most fans and critics.
Following his grueling match against John Cena, Logan Paul hopped on Twitter and proclaimed that his match against Cena was peak professional wrestling.
“When an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. I wanted a match with John Cena to prove that I not only belong in the business but can bring the best out of the business. Mission accomplished. For me, last night was peak professional wrestling
Fair play to John, an absolute mastermind of the craft. He wrestles better than Pablo Picasso paints… idk if it’ll ever be understood how good he is
Although my hand wasn’t raised, I came away with more victories than I can count. Grateful
Go toe to toe with another GOAT, check.
Ps – les fans français sont putain de fous
What’s next for Logan Paul?
At the moment, Logan Paul's future is unknown. The former United States Champion usually takes a hiatus during this time, though that hasn’t been confirmed. We should get a good read on Paul’s next steps if he’s on Smackdown Friday.
As for John Cena, The former WWE Undisputed Champion is prepared to face Brock Lesnar next. While not confirmed, it’s been reported that Cena will face off against “The Beast Incarnate” at the upcoming Wrestlepalooza PLE.
While Cena hasn’t responded to the post, he did explain during the Clash in Paris post-show why he chose Logan Paul as one of his final opponents and compared it to when he was given his big break against Kurt Angle (Transcript courtesy of Wrestlinginc).
I said ‘hey guys, I feel pretty good. I feel like I’m going down swinging. I want to give everything I have to the business. Who wants to step up?’ And man, I remember somebody giving me an opportunity in Chicago, Illinois. I stepped up and I wasn’t ready. And there’s a whole lot of people that could’ve faced Kurt Angle that night, but I was the one who had the stupid bravery to slap him in the face and that’s how I started this journey, y’know?”
Cena then goes into Logan Paul and said that he respected the kid.
“You have to invest your heart and soul. Man, you say it like I’m going at a different level. I’m simply just giving all I have. That’s all I’ve really ever done. I’m glad everyone appreciates it, but I’m just trying to give my heart to the canvas. And tonight, man, if anyone doesn’t like Logan Paul that’s fine. I got to put some respect on that man.”
