One of the biggest matches scheduled for this month's WrestleMania is Kevin Owens vs. Randy Orton. It's been in the works for several months, and if recent teases are any indication, we may get to see The Viper bring back his infamous Punt kick.
Unfortunately, a new report suggests the bout is in jeopardy. It's said that KO is currently dealing with an undisclosed injury and that, as of now, there's no set timetable for his return.
"PWN has been told Kevin Owens is dealing with an undisclosed injury with no timetable set for a return to action," the site reports. "This puts Owens' WrestleMania match vs Randy Orton in jeopardy with 15 days remaining until the show of shows. To the extent that alternative plans for Orton have been discussed, but no pivot has been made for Orton yet."
"Owens' last match came on March 1st at Elimination Chamber vs Sami Zayn in an Unsanctioned match," it adds. "Once more information is available, we will update the situation."
We're not sure what WWE could pivot to if Owens can't wrestle, though it would likely be easy enough to call the match off if Orton were to take his opponent out on SmackDown before WrestleMania takes place.
Hopefully, we'll have more to share soon. For now, we're wishing Owens a speedy recovery.
In other WrestleMania news, as the cards for both nights begin taking shape, we have news on another match likely to be added to the Showcase of the Immortals.
In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer says, "The expectation is a multi-team for the Smackdown tag titles with the Street Profits defending. Possible if not probable teams are Pretty Deadly, Los Garzas, Motor City Machine Guns and DIY."
It's unclear what the plan is for the World Tag Team Championships, though WWE currently appears to be building to the War Raiders battling The New Day. Whether that's a WrestleMania-level match is up for debate, especially as the Women's Tag Team titles and Women's Intercontinental and United States Championships have yet to be added to the PLE.
Stay tuned for updates as we have them.
