Could Maxxine Dupri become the next Women’s Intercontinental Champion?
On Monday Night RAW, Maxxine Dupri got another opportunity to win the I.C. title and the RAW star came extremely close to winning her first title in WWE. Though the match ended via DQ, it was still a victory for Maxxine as she wasn’t dominated by Lynch this time around.
It’s been noticeable as of late how much Maxxine has been putting in the work to get better as a performer. Prior to signing with WWE in 2021, the 28-year-old didn’t have any experience in the business, but she’s been slowly getting better as the years progressed.
Why?
Because there’s a genuine passion and love for what she’s doing. Maxxine spoke on the RAW podcast and she expresses her love for professional wrestling and is trying to maximize the opportunities she’s getting (Transcript courtesy of Fightful):
“I think both, right. It’s like you sign and you’re so excited and you’re like, okay, I’m doing it, and then you’re, you’re on the hamster wheel and you’re doing your best. You’re getting opportunities. You’re trying to make the most of everything, and you’re just- but you know, whatever you can. But I’m at this place now where I’m just, I’ve fallen so in love with this and it brings me so much joy. You know, whether I’m on Raw, on Netflix performing, which is insane, or if I’m in the dungeon learning and growing, whatever it is, it’s like, it fuels me. So I don’t know. I don’t know if there was like a special moment that it clicked. Like, this is all I can now eat, sleep, breathe. But it’s what we’re doing.”
Though Maxxine didn’t walk out with a title, she did leave with a win. That means she’ll get another chance to finally capture her first title in WWE. Maxxine made one thing clear in her backstage promo - she’s definitely coming for that Intercontinental title.
When will these two lock up again? At the moment, that remains unknown and there’s no word on whether another Maxxine vs. Becky Lynch match being in the works. Given the result of RAW last night, it seems clear that’s the direction they’re going in, but plans can always change. As always, we’ll keep you informed on when Lynch defends her title against Maxxine.
