After Naomi was abruptly and seemingly randomly pulled from competition last week on WWE Monday Night Raw—wherein she was scheduled to defend her Women's World Championship against IYO SKY, the woman who she cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase on to defeat and win the title from at WWE Evolution a little over a month ago—speculation swirled over why that happened.
Reports were vague, just stating that she was "not medically cleared to compete", which of course means any number of things. But since Naomi didn't appear to have suffered any sort of visible injury prior, such as when she defended the title against Sky and Rhea Ripley at SummerSlam, it was open for any rumors to be tossed out.
One of the most prominent, though, was that she was possibly pregnant, as Naomi had recently stated in her interview on "What's Your Story? with Stephanie McMahon" that she and Jimmy Uso were interested in having a child, stating: "I really feel like if I wanted to stop and go have a baby, we can do it. 16 years ago, you didn't feel like you could do that. That's for sure. I feel like it was a wrap. Yeah, baby, you're done." When Naomi stepped away from WWE for a short while, those discussions apparently took form, with Naomi thinking she was done with wrestling, only to realize she still wanted to continue competing in the ring.
Considering the abrupt nature of pulling her from this title defense, the vague non-reports about what was going on, and her father posting on social media that something "epic" would go down on Raw, along with WWE announcing in advance that "Naomi would address the WWE Universe"—which is often their way of phrasing that a champion is going to relinquish their championship, often due to some sort of injury, this was one of the safer bets to make for what would go down tonight at the Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.
That was indeed the story, as Raw General Manager Adam Pearce announced her to the ring, and she revealed in a pretaped clip from another episode of Stephanie McMahon's podcast that she and Jimmy Uso are having a child.
Naomi then proceeded to berate Pearce, saying she didn't want to hand over the title to him. Instead, she laid her custom championship belt down onto the ring and put the roster on notice, that she was going to wreck all of them, so they should be lucky that "Big Jim" likes to "Netflix and chill." Nine months and some change from now, she's coming back for her belt.
Nothing yet was announced as far as how this would change plans for Stephanie Vaquer to have her title match at WWE Clash in Paris and the process of sorting out a new champion.
