On tonight's episode of NXT (full results here), a surprise appearance from Nia Jax has sparked a new rivalry.
Despite all three rosters of Raw, SmackDown, and NXT being separate from each other via the brand split, an understood relaxed rule has always applied that anyone from the main roster could appear on NXT at any given time for any reason, just for the sake of it. Likewise, NXT talent could be swapped in for a guest appearance on Raw or SmackDown in the same fashion as people from the red and blue brands popping up on any given week. However, typically, if someone from the main roster comes down to get physical in NXT, it normally leads to a short storyline or even a longer stint on Tuesday nights.
This seems to be one of those cases, as out of nowhere during Lash Legend's match against Fallon Henley, Jax appeared, went after Legend, and gave an easy win for Henley to capitalize on. Jax then laid out Legend after the match with her Annihilator finisher.
That match had taken place because Legend was looking to use her momentum from her appearance in the battle royal at WWE Evolution, wherein she was the runner-up to Stephanie Vaquer, to potentially put her in line for a title opportunity against Jacy Jayne for either the NXT Women's Championship or TNA Knockouts World Championship (as Jayne holds both).
Jax had been taken out by Legend in that match as the third-to-last competitor, and this upset her so much that she's now looking for revenge.
In a parking lot segment, Fatal Influence was bickering amongst themselves over Jazmyn Nyx losing her match to Jaida Parker, and Henley only beating Legend due to Jax's help, Jax hijacked the camera to cut a promo to it about how Legend shouldn't have tried to prove herself as the most dominant woman on the roster, as that's Jax's role.
The Irresistible Force will be there next week as well, it seems, likely to go on the hunt once more.
Where do you think this story is going next? Should Lash Legend go up to the main roster, or should Nia Jax stick around longer in NXT? Drop your thoughts in the comments below and keep the discussion going!
