Nia Jax picked a fight with the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions, Alexa Bliss and Charlotte Flair, two weeks ago on Friday Night SmackDown, when she called attention to how she and Bliss used to be best friends until Bliss turned on her, saying that the same would happen to The Queen. After all, Bliss and Flair have been partners with the entire premise being that they "aren't friends", despite their friendship building in the process.
This led to Jax losing a match last week against Bliss, in what should have been an easy squash given their size differential. Following up on that, Nia Jax was scheduled to face Charlotte Flair on tonight's episode of SmackDown.
During that match, Bliss was ringside to support her partner, while Jax was by herself, having nobody on the roster to back her up after previously being aligned with both Candice LeRae and Tiffany Stratton (who cashed in her Money in the Bank contract on her in January to win the Women's Championship and has feuded with her for the last 10 months as a result).
But Jax did actually have backup all along in a surprise call up for an NXT Superstar who has long been hovering around the idea of joining the SmackDown roster.
During the match, wherein at one point the feed went black due to a wardrobe malfunction Charlotte Flair suffered with her top being misaligned to expose herself temporarily, Bliss was attacked from behind by Lash Legend.
This distraction was enough for Jax to capitalize on it, pinning Flair after an Annihilator.
A few segments later, Cathy Kelley was backstage with an interview, asking Jax and Legend to clarify their partnership, as the two had actually had a rivalry earlier this year in NXT over who was the most dominant woman in WWE, spawning out of the WWE Evolution battle royal wherein Legend eliminated Jax. Jax had gotten the better of Legend on NXT, and as she explained in the interview, that is where she developed a respect for how "formidable" of an opponent Legend was.
Technically speaking, WWE hasn't officially said anything of the sorts about Legend being 100% confirmed as a trade over to SmackDown, but with she and Jax talking about how they're going to destroy everyone in their path and this is just the beginning, the language is there to at least imply this is where she's staying.
