Is Aalyah Mysterio getting into the ring someday?
In 2020, it seemed that the daughter of Rey Mysterio was following in her father’s footsteps. Aalyah Mysterio was introduced onscreen and there was a story where Aalyah and Buddy Murphy (aka Buddy Matthews) started dating with the disapproval of Papa Rey.
It was quite the controversial story as Aalyah was 19. Though she’s an adult, many fans and critics thought it was strange for a 30 plus year old man to be dating a girl that young. The story was eventually dropped after Aalyah kissed Buddy, and she went onto college in a career in medicine at the University of San Diego. She officially graduated earlier this year, and it seemed that Aalyah would take a different path from her brother Dominik and Rey.
But Aalyah seems to have some of that wrestling spirit afterall. Speaking to the Club 520 podcast in a interview, the former WWE Champion revealed that his daughter recently did some basic training inside of the squared circle.
“My daughter had always had the curiosity to step in the ring. So she goes, ‘When are you taking me? When are you taking me?’ For about a year and a half. So I said, ‘Okay, I’m going to Orlando. Let’s go.’ She went up with me. She jumped in the ring and she loved it, man.
He went into some detail about what Aalyah was doing and it was the basic stuff that all beginner must learn from the jump.
“She was hitting the ropes, rolling… doing all that like the generic stuff, basic stuff, beginner stuff. But yeah, the ring’s on another level, man. Especially the ropes. When you hit those ropes… she was all bruised from her back and shoulders.”
Could we see Aalyah in a WWE ring someday?
Rey never reveals whether his daughter is genuinely interested in pursuing a career in wrestling full time, but he surely doesn’t seem to mind helping his daughter train if that time ever comes.
Aalyah never took any bumps doing her brief stint in 2020, but it wouldn’t be surprising if that wasn’t the last time we saw her on WWE television.
