Last night's episode of RAW hailed from Madison Square Garden and, in the main event, CM Punk went one-on-one with Seth Rollins inside a Steel Cage.
It was a phenomenal match that saw Punk use the Curb Stome and Rollins utilise the GTS. Neither man wanted to escape the cage as they were seemingly determined to destroy each other. However, Rollins was dragged out of the dominating structure - earning the win, in the process - by an unknown assailant...revealed to be Roman Reigns!
The OTC made his return and wasted no time in laying waste to The Visionary at ringside with a Superman Punch, Spear, and Curb Stomp of his own.
Stopped from hitting his former Shield brother with a Curb Stomp on the steel steps (which is what Rollins did to him at the Royal Rumble), Reigns noticed that his Wiseman, Paul Heyman, was in the ring attending to the Best in the World.
He wasn't having that and got into the ring, slammed Punk into the cage, and hit him with a Spear as RAW went off the air. Now, the stage appears to have been set for the rumoured Triple Threat Match at WrestleMania we have to believe will headline Night 1.
Punk previously reflected on the original plans for him and Punk at last year's WrestleMania before the Second City Saint was injured.
"That's a great question. It would have been Seth Rollins and CM Punk I believe. But then you've got The Rock and his introduction into that story right after Royal Rumble. But he comes in and kind of didn't really understand the scope of what he was messing up I don't think. So I don't know what would have happened if Punk won the Rumble or not got injured. Yeah, I don't really know."
"I don't know where Cody would have landed in all of that. I don't know where Roman, I don't know where anyone [would have landed]. There were just a lot of players and somebody would have been on the outs. I don't know who that would have been. I have no idea. So, I mean, all the stars were pointing towards CM Punk and Seth Rollins at WrestleMania. But it's a tough business and things get in the way."
