During Monday's RAW, Roman Reigns confronted his WarGames teammates, Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk, telling them that the title would look much better on him.
The longest-reigning WWE Champion of the modern era didn't specify which title he was referring to, and it sounds like WWE is already teeing up the WrestleMania 42 main event. As a reminder, the Show of Shows takes place over two nights on Saturday, April 18, and Sunday, April 19, in Las Vegas.
Talking on the latest edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer explained the original plans called for, "Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins...Seth Rollins did say that he’s hoping to get back for WrestleMania."
However, with The Visionary's status for the Showcase of the Immortals very much "TBD," Meltzer added, "I was given the impression that the WrestleMania main event that there will be on Saturday [at Survivor Series], there will be teases that will help you figure out who the WrestleMania main event will be."
"The tease on Monday was absolutely a tease for the main event. Which would lead you to believe it’s Roman Reigns challenging either Cody Rhodes or Punk."
He continued, "Because Cody Rhodes has been done twice before, I would favor them going with Punk, but I think that on Saturday we will probably have a better idea, although I’m going to guess that they’ll shoot teases with both of them, just to keep that question going."
If Reigns vs. Rollins is off the table, either Reigns vs. Rhodes III or Reigns vs. Punk would make for a suitably huge main event. Heck, WWE might even swerve us with Reigns vs. Bron Breakker!
