WWE dropped another shocker on fans during Monday's RAW when Iyo Sky defeated Rhea Ripley to become the new Women's World Champion. As a result, she'll face Elimination Chamber winner Bianca Belair at WrestleMania 41 in April.
Ripley has been the biggest female star in WWE for some time now and fans have been left to question what the company has planned for the Eradicator on the Grandest Stage of Them All.
According to @WrestleVotes (talking on SportsKeeda's Backstage Pass Q&A), the current idea is for Ripley to be added to Sky vs. Belair to make it a Triple Threat Match.
"I did want to speak on the Rhea Ripley part that you opened with. Just quickly, the anticipation is that the match will turn into a three-way at WrestleMania. That’s what I heard today," the insider said. "Fully expect for that match to turn into a triple threat match by the time we get to Las Vegas."
"That’s what I was told. If the spice isn’t there between Bianca and IYO, don’t worry, it’s going to shape out to be a little different."
Following RAW, an emotional Ripley expressed her frustration at losing the title following a ringside altercation with the EST. "I should've known better," she said. "I should've known not to take my eye off the ball. I've been through this crap with Liv Morgan. I've been through all this with Dom. I've been through this with Judgment Day, and I still cannot learn."
"Right when I think that I'm making friends, I screw it up," Ripley added. "I screwed up IYO's match with Liv Morgan and took her out of Elimination Chamber. That's on me, I did that. I thought I was friends with Bianca - now that's possibly done with, too."
A Triple Threat match is an intriguing prospect, and it will be interesting to see whether Jade Cargill factors into the outcome when the prevailing theory is that Belair orchestrated the attack on her. For now, we'd bet on Cargill facing Naomi at the Show of Shows.
