The Ruse of the Century saw the crowning of a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
Last night, CM Punk and Gunther went back-and-forth for over 30 minutes in an absolute banger. But once Gunther was opened up, Punk took advantage of that weakness and won a world championship for the first time in over a decade.
Then Seth Rollins revealed his true colors.
The Architect came out and revealed that his “injury” at Saturday Night’s Main Event was nothing more than a ruse. Rollins vowed to make sure that CM Punk would never become the world champion as long as he’s breathing.
Luckily for Punk, Rollins gave him at least five minutes. Rollins destroyed CM Punk and successfully cashed in, leaving the Straight Edge star broken and defeated. The New WWE World Heavyweight Champion will be in the building tonight. What will Seth Rollins say following his epic win? Plus, will CM Punk show up tonight?
Becky Lynch is STILL the WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion. There’s heat on the Lyra Valkyria and Bayley side since the latter was the reason that Valkyria couldn’t beat Lynch. But what about Becky? She finally conquered her toughest opponent in years and she’ll be living on cloud nine tonight. Will someone new step up and challenge Becky Lynch for the I.C. title? And what will be the latest development between Bayley and Lyra Valkyria?
In what should be a slobber knocker of a match, Rusev and Sheamus will fight for the third time in recent months. There’s bad blood between the two ex United States Champions; Sheamus has been a thorn in Rusev’s plans and the newly returned WWE star wants to finish this once and for all. Can Rusev put an end to this for good?
Also, Rhea Ripley and Iyo Sky failed to beat Naomi to become the new WWE Women’s Champion. That means Naomi vs. Stephanie Vaquer at Clash at the Castle is official. Naomi always warns her opponents to proceed with caution, but the former NXT Women’s Champion doesn’t have an ounce of fear in her body. What will happen with Stephanie and Naomi in the same building? And how will Rhea Ripley and Iyo move forward after Summerslam.
