A huge trade just went down between the Raw and SmackDown rosters as Sami Zayn has been swapped from Monday nights over to the blue brand.
Starting this week's episode of Friday Night SmackDown, Solo Sikoa was in the ring alongside his MFTs (JC Mateo, Talla Tonga, and Tonga Loa) where he cut a promo about how they had interfered with Zayn's business on Monday Night Raw, attacking him to get back at him for Zayn's win over Sikoa on last week's SmackDown.
Sikoa claimed that he had squashed him and taken care of him for good, only for Zayn to then come straight out and prove that to be the total opposite, as Zayn has now been transferred over to SmackDown and has a goal in mind: to win the United States Championship, as that's one of the only titles he's yet to win in WWE (along with the world title, even though technically, Zayn has many more titles like the North American Championship and such that are just not counted in segments like this)
After things went south and a brawl ensued, Zayn was backed up by Jimmy Uso and Jacob Fatu running out to help him fight off the MFTs.
SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis they came out to corral them, reiterate that it is official that Zayn is part of the SmackDown brand now, and book a six-man tag team match for the main event. Ultimately, Zayn, Uso, and Fatu would end up beating Sikoa, Tonga Loa, and JC Mateo after Zayn once more pinned Sikoa, which should certainly put him in contention for a future title shot down the line.
Personal Reactions & What Happens Next?:
If I can editorialize for a moment to add on to this, it hasn't been confirmed in one way or another, but I assume this is in part a response to the idea of LA Knight being moved over to the Raw roster. That has yet to be made official in any capacity as far as announcing something on the air or changing his profile page on WWE.com, but that website never gets updated anymore, and has developed even more technical errors and misprints over time. It's clear the web team is not a reliable source on that site anymore. However, some reports had been saying for a while that Knight was internally considered for a move over to Monday nights, so this may be something that for all intents and purposes is "done", but just hasn't been formally announced. Swapping Zayn and Knight is effectively an even trade, and makes perfect sense. I just wish they would actually do a WWE Draft and freshen up the rosters even more than just these random individual swaps that happen sporadically.
