Paige made a huge impact in WWE in the mid-2010s, with an unforgettable main roster debut in 2014 that saw her defeat AJ Lee for the Divas Championship during her first night on RAW.
Unfortunately, Paige also battled addiction and neck issues, and while she's since managed to overcome those to step back into the ring for AEW, many fans remain eager to see her back in WWE, not as Saraya, but as Paige.
With AEW now in her rearview, it feels like a WWE return is somewhere on the horizon. In a new interview, Paige weighed in on Lee's recent comeback and how that's only increased her desire to step back into the squared circle.
"I've watched that over and over again, because she’s my fairy godmother. She was one who took me under her wing when I first came up on the roster, and we travelled together," the British professional wrestler explained. "My social media has blown up. I cannot go on there without hundreds of thousands of people doing videos being like, 'Please bring Saraya back. Please bring Paige back.'"
"It made me emotional. People still like me, and they still want me to be around. That’s probably the best feeling in the world for me."
Paige added, "I feel like I have done a lot for women’s wrestling. My career was cut short with the neck, but now my neck is healthy. I’m in full health. I want to start training again. I want to get in the ring and bring back the Paige that I was in NXT. I watched a match I had with Natty a couple of days ago, and I thought, man, I just miss that side of me. I need to get back in the swing of things again."
Paige was Saraya in AEW, but has said on multiple occasions that she would want to be Paige in WWE. Asked what that character would look like in 2025, the former Divas Champion shared what sounds like a potentially exciting evolution for the character.
"I’m ready to come back. I want to get my cardio back and get the ring rust off. I found my love for it again. This is such an exciting time for wrestling, and I miss it. I want to be Paige again, like the way she wrestled in NXT, and I want to upgrade her," she teased. "I’m not going to be crazy, but I want to do the new generation style of wrestling."
"If I ever come back, people are going to be surprised at what I can do. I’m going to credit Natty because I am coming to the Dungeon. I’m going to come there for a good month, and we are going to sweat," Paige concluded.
