Shotzi Explains Why She's Excited For The Future Despite Her WWE Departure

Shotzi wasn’t particularly thrilled about her final months in WWE.

Unfortunately, the former WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion was informed by officials that they would not renew her contract. Shotzi was actually out of action due to suffering a torn ACL back in February 2024. On Busted Open Radio, Shotzi revealed that her return was supposed to happen sooner as she was scheduled to feud with Chelsea Green.

However, WWE officials scrapped those ideas without any reason. As you can imagine, that was extremely frustrating for the former WWE superstar. She sat down for months not knowing when she would work again, which was confusing and boring for the 33-year-old.

“When they’re utilizing you, it’s the best job in the world. It’s so much fun, and it really is the best. But when you’re in the dark, and you’re pitching things, and it just feels like no one wants to talk to you, and it just feels like no one believes in you, and you’re just sitting at home, or you’re sitting at catering for months, it’s mind-numbing. And it’s confusing, and it’s boring as hell.

So, I’m just excited to finally go out there and just kick ass on my terms. And I get to make my schedule. Like, I’m not gonna put myself in catering. I’m gonna get out there and I’m going to wrestle my butt off.”

Shotzi opted to head down to NXT where she got a chance to work with Gigi Dolin and Tatum Paxley. According to the former WWE star, the plan was to do a two-month run in the developmental brand to help rebuild her momentum, but just like her plans to feud with Chelsea Green, plans changed for her once again.

Though Shotzi didn’t see her release coming, she stated during the interview that she is finally free and is extremely excited for the future.

“Honestly, I didn’t expect this, but I just feel so free and I feel like this weight is lifted off me. I feel clarity and extremely motivated and excited for the future, and I’m excited to get to work, since I’ve been sitting at home for what feels like the last two years. I’m just excited to get back at it.”

There’s no word on where Shotzi could end up next. Since WWE isn’t renewing her contract, she doesn’t have the 90-day non-compete clause. She never states where she plans to go next, but it wouldn’t be surprising if Shotzi ended up in either TNA or AEW.
