Stephanie McMahon’s in-ring career is officially over.

WrestleMania 34 was Stephanie’s final match. During the WWE countdown for Summerslam, the 48-year-old addressed this question from Big E and Stephanie confirmed what many of us assumed.

Stephanie McMahon mostly phased out the wrestling side following her I Quit match against Vince McMahon at No Mercy 2003. She made her official in-ring return over a decade later against Brie Bella at Summerslam 2014. She fought again four years later in a memorable tag team match with Triple H against Kurt Angle and Ronda Rousey.

Stephanie McMahon fought the most during the Attitude Era. She made her in-ring debut in 1999; Stephanie tagged with her onscreen boyfriend Test to take on Debra and Jeff Jarrett. She would win the WWE Women’s World Championship from Jacqueline a year later. Stephanie mainly competed in tag team matches with other men such as Triple H, Chris Jericho, and Kurt Angle. Her longest singles match was against Brie Bella as that bout went about twelve minutes.

Like Shane McMahon, she was a part time performer for the most part, but Stephanie’s matches were enjoyable more often than not.

It’s not particularly a surprise that Stephanie is no longer wrestling. Of course, she could change her tune in the future, but her focus seems to be on her new podcast, Stephanie’s Places, that launched earlier this year. Stephanie would make a great mouth piece for a heel wrestler. It would be interesting to see if she ever goes in that direction.

Stephanie essentially confirmed her retirement in a 2022 interview with D Magazine’s Mike Piellucci, though there was a bit of optimism about a possible return.

“Well, no one’s boots are ever officially hung up. But that being said, Ronda put me in my place about four years ago, so I highly doubt I would make a return to the ring unless it were exactly the perfect right thing that everyone needed me to do.”

There were some teased matches in the past that never came to fruition, but it’s professional wrestling so plans tend to change.

How do you feel about Stephanie confirming her retirement? And do have any favorite matches involving The Billion Dollar Princess?
