Remember Summer Rae?
Apparently, the former WWE still has the itch to lace up the boots once again. Danielle Moinet aka Summer Rae spoke on Talksport and she revealed that she still has the desire to come back to WWE.
“Oh my gosh. So, I was with WWE for six years, which is a good solid run. And I’ve been gone a little bit, went back three years ago for the Royal Rumble. They did not have an all women’s Royal Rumble when I was growing up, and it was my dream. It was everything I wanted to do. We were on the road, gosh, a good 300 days a year. It’s completely nonstop, but when it’s what you’ve wanted to do, it doesn’t feel like work. And I’m still very good friends with a lot of the girls and a lot of the guys in WWE, and I still watch it avidly. I’m such a big fan, and it’s just a part of me. It always will be. And, um, you know, I get the itch to go back all the time.”
The former WWE star came down to FCW in 2011 and transitioned to NXT several years later. Summer never won any titles in the developmental brand, but she was good enough to be drafted to RAW as Fandango's dance partner.
It wouldn’t take Rae long to compete on the main roster and she actually had a match at WrestleMania XXX where she was in a 14-Diva Vickie Guerrero Invitational match. However, what Rae is mostly recognized for was her feud with Lana and Dolph Ziggler. The steamy soap opera saw Rae take over managerial duties as Lana partnered with Ziggler.
Despite how buzzy the story was, it was eventually dropped once Lana and Rusev revealed online that they were actually getting married in real life. That killed the story immediately and WWE held a segment where Rusev publicly broke up with Summer. A good majority of her time was spent on the Total Divas reality show. The tail end of her career was hampered due to injuries, which led to WWE releasing the 41-year-old.
The former WWE star would compete here and there outside of the promotion; however, Rae ultimately called it quits in 2022 following her brief wwe return in the Royal Rumble. Despite never being a champion, Rae did have a solid run in the company.
Could we see a brief return?
That’s up to Triple H and company, though Rae probably wouldn’t hesitate to do something if WWE did call again.
