It appears we finally have a reason Tegan Nox didn’t work out in WWE.

The sky was the limit for the 30-year-old when she originally made her debut in the Mae Young Classic. Nox was actually supposed to win the women’s tournament, but she suffered a torn ACL that forced her out of action for a year. Nox just couldn’t get into a groove in her first stint with the company as she suffered quite a bit of injuries that stopped her from getting any sort of serious push. She was ultimately released in 2021.

However, Triple H brought her back a year later and she started teaming with Natalya. Unfortunately, that didn’t last long as Nox’s time on television soon reverted to Main Event and dark matches. Tegan's last televised match was on RAW in a six woman tag team match with Shayna Baszler and Zoey Stark against Damage CTRL (Asuka, Dakota Kai & Kairi Sane). Her team was on the losing end of that match. That bout took place in January 2024. Nox was released in November 2024 with several other names like Baron Corbin and Indi Hartwell. Tegan instantly voiced her displeasure on Twitter:

“Some things are just out of your control and you can only do as much as you can," stated Nox in a post on X. "Let’s clear one thing up though. I’m ready. I've been ready. Just have to show people what they’ve missed."

But Tegan went a bit further in explaining why it didn’t work out in WWE. It comes down to Triple H having a different gimmick in mind for the Wales native, which completely went against what Nox was overall:

“I’m very emo, pop-punk. This is me. Tegan Nox was so far removed from me that I was trying to get this through but I just was allowed." The former Nox said during the Highsports’ Sign-It-Live event. “They preferred me to be the girl next door, instead of a tattooed-up punk kid.”

To be fair, it does seem that Rhea Ripley has that spot occupied at the moment. Nevertheless, Nox never really got to show what she could do in WWE. Part of it was her being injury prone. But if Nox was genuinely healthy then WWE didn’t particularly try to do much with the former WWE star. Whatever the case may be, hopefully Nox finds better success outside of the WWE bubble.
