The New Day Member Kofi Kingston To Undergo Surgery Following Ankle Injury
Despite the fact that rumours are pointing to The New Day heading to SmackDown Live this week, it appears as if the group will be down a member soon due to Kofi Kingston needing ankle surgery...
On last week's episode of RAW, The Revival made their main roster debut and swiftly defeated The New Day in a tag team match. However, once that was done, they teamed up to take out Kofi Kingston (who did not compete in the match) and attacked his ankle in the same way they often did to opponents down in NXT.
At the time, it was speculated that this could be used as a cover for a legitimate injury and that now appears to have been confirmed. WWE.com reports that the former Raw Tag Team Champion will be "out of action for several weeks" after the events of last Monday. "During the attack by The Revival, Kofi injured his right ankle and heard a crack, and was unable to put weight on his leg following the attack," WWE physician Dr. Chris Amann says. "Further evaluation and an MRI revealed that the attack had caused fragments of bone to break off the ankle bone (talus), requiring arthroscopic surgery to remove the bone chips from the damaged joint."
While it's feasible Kingston will be kept off television, it's every bit as likely that he'll still join The New Day as a manager of sorts. Then again, the team made do without Big E for a few weeks during a storyline ahead of last year's SummerSlam, so they can survive in the meantime regardless of how this is handled. What do you think?
