Tonight is the final show before Night of Champions.
The semi-finals of the King and Queen of the Ring concludes with two blockbuster matches. For the king of the ring, friends become foes for the night as former Undisputed Champion Cody Rhodes takes on former WWE World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso.
Jey Uso is fresh off his devastating world title loss. Though Jey secured his spot in the semi-finals, the former World Heavyweight Champion comes into the match wounded thanks to Seth Rollins, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed. Still, Jey is determined to climb back to the top of the mountain to get his rematch against Gunther.
Cody Rhodes is also reeling from his huge loss at WrestleMania 41. The former Undisputed Champion is riding a nice momentum following his return last month, but there’s no doubt that Cody has a couple enemies who would be happy to see him out of the competition. How far will these friends go to advance into the finals? And will Cody and Jey be friends once it’s all said and done?
For the women, Jade Cargill will go one-on-one against former NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez for the first time ever. This is a female version of David vs. Goliath as Cargill is a dominant beast who can toss around Perez pretty easily. However, don’t count out Roxanne Perez just yet.
There’s a reason she was able to keep the NXT Women’s Championship for 276 days and it has nothing to do with luck. Add in the Judgment Day faction and this won’t be a walk in the park for Cargill. Will Roxanne Perez secure her spot in the finals with a huge win? Or will Jade Cargill get one step closer to the WWE Women’s Championship?
Speaking of women’s titles, Becky Lynch will defend her Intercontinental Championship against Bayley. These friends-turned-scorned enemies have a storied history that dates all the way back to NXT ten years ago. Bayley is on a mission to not only bring home some gold, but to beat the crap out of the arrogant Women’s IC champ. Will Becky Lynch have a very short title run? Or will the Women’s IC Champion prove her worth and defeat her nemesis?
