Next week's episode of WWE SmackDown takes place Friday, September 26, 2025 at the Kia Center in Orlando, Florida.
The big headlining act will be a Triple Threat match for the WWE Women's Championship as Tiffany Stratton defends against Jade Cargill and Nia Jax, announced by SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis on tonight's episode.
Last week, Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill fought to a draw in their WWE Women's Championship match that ended in a double count-out. This was a rematch from their bout at WWE SummerSlam 2025, where Stratton defeated the Queen of the Ring to retain her title.
After the double count-out, Nia Jax went on the attack, as she had been stepping in during discussions over who would get the next title opportunity. Jax has been the go-to person WWE keeps pairing with Stratton for this entire year, consistently finding herself in title contention no matter who Stratton is booked against.
For those who forget, Jax was the woman Stratton defeated to win the title in the first place, after cashing in her Money in the Bank contract to steal the belt from The Irresistible Force on the January 3rd edition of Friday Night SmackDown.
The announcement of a Triple Threat match between Stratton, Cargill, and Jax was spoiled ahead of time when the match appeared on the official Wrestlepalooza shirt merchandise yesterday, with WrestleVotes reporting that the announcement was still in question due to Stratton possibly not being medically cleared to compete after landing awkwardly during a moonsault in last week's match, which resulted in her being pulled from her scheduled appearance in the main event six-woman tag team match of NXT Homecoming (where she was replaced by Lyra Valkyria).
We can assume this match has been pushed back a week in order for Stratton to be medically cleared, though since that hasn't been confirmed, that is just speculation.
