Trish Stratus Is Unhappy With Rushed, "Boring" Build To Her EVOLUTION 2 Match With Tiffany Stratton

WWE has really dropped the ball on Evolution 2. The event takes place this Sunday, but the build has been so last-minute, excitement among fans appears minimal (despite it being a seven-year wait for a follow-up to the last all-female PLE).

Throw in the fact that Goldberg's last match is tomorrow at Saturday Night's Main Event, and it feels a lot like the event will come and go with little in the way of fanfare.

During last week's pre-taped SmackDown, we learned that WWE Women's Champion Tiffany Stratton has chosen WWE Hall of Famer and her former tag team partner, Trish Stratus, as her Evolution 2 opponent.

Talking to Sam Roberts (you can watch the full interview below), Stratus expressed disappointment with the build to their match.

"This entire card has seemed to be a quick turnaround as it is unfortunately and I get it — there’s like 7,000 events a month, it seems like," she said with a laugh. "But I think there’s a little bit of a built-in storyline luckily for Tiffany  and I, so yeah, the whole Evolution kind of came about quite quickly for everyone."

"But, I think it’s a little bit of that fantasy-booking, and seeing Tiff and I in there — I think people wanted it and I think it’s really gonna deliver. I know it’s gonna deliver."

"There’s a little bit of a saying, like, 'You can only control what you can control," Stratus continued. "Do I wish there was a bigger build? Do I wish we had a longer segment? Do I wish we didn’t have a very boring segment last week on SmackDown? Sure [Laughs]. But, it is what it is."

She'd go on to express further disappointment with the booking, but admitted that going too long with a feud like this can also be detrimental.

"There were moments in Becky and I’s feud where people did go on a little bit longer than maybe people liked. Maybe one too many promos about the same thing. I don’t know, maybe," Stratus continued. "That might have happened. But at the end of the day, it was we knew we had to deliver that match."

"We’re remembering the rivalry and the chemistry and what we brought in the match. Yes, it [was thrown] together. We got a two-week — what is it? 10-day build? I thought Charlotte and I had a short build but again, it was great for the moment."

We'll see if Trish and Tiffany are able to deliver Stratusfaction this weekend, and if the match delivers, then that will be all that matters when the weekend is over. To see these top Superstars from two different eras going one-on-one should be a much bigger deal, though.

Stay tuned for updates on Evolution 2 as we have them.
