On tonight's edition of WWE Monday Night Raw, Paul Heyman and Bron Breakker approached Raw General Manager Adam Pearce backstage to talk about a potential title opportunity, given how the WarGames match at WWE Survivor Series ended with Breakker pinning World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk.
Pearce, who accused Heyman of orchestrating the masked attacker incident that led to that pinfall, spent the night trying to get referee Eddie Orengo to investigate who that person might be. Heyman, though, denied having anything to do with it, and was clearly able to secure his client that title match.
During an in-ring promo segment, where it appears Logan Paul was officially declared a member of The Vision going forward [but that could just be speculation on this author's behalf and not something committal going on in any sort of official capacity], Heyman announced that Breakker would indeed get his title opportunity, on the January 5, 2026 episode of Monday Night Raw.
No clear explanation was given as to why Breakker would have to wait five weeks for this match instead of having it sooner, but WWE did say that Punk wasn't medically cleared for action. The implication may be that this is just to allow Punk some time to recuperate and get cleared over the holiday break, as well as to have a big match at the start of the year.
Curiously, WWE has yet to give any kind of branding to that episode like they've done in the past with Day 1 Raw, New Year's Revolution SmackDown, and NXT New Year's Evil.
Breakker cut a promo about this title shot and how he is going to win the World Heavyweight Championship.
But before all that goes down on January 5th, we have some things announced for next week's episode of Raw, too.
AJ Styles and Dragon Lee will defend the World Tag Team Championship titles against The War Raiders, Erik and Ivar. This was their personal pick and they went to Adam Pearce specifically to request having this match next week, as they want to keep defending their belts.
Rey Mysterio will face Finn Balor in singles action. Mysterio just got into a confrontation with Logan Paul, slapping him backstage, as both want to face Dominik Mysterio for the Men's Intercontinental Championship. For anyone curious, Ivy Nile will face Maxxine Dupri for the Women's Intercontinental Championship at some point, but that hasn't been announced yet, nor do we know when the next Women's Tag Team Championship title match will be taking place, as that division has heated up.
Lastly, the winner of The Last Time is Now tournament will be in attendance on next week's Raw to build up some last-minute hype for Saturday Night's Main Event.
