After a lengthy hiatus in 2022, Charlotte Flair returned to WWE on December 30 and won the SmackDown Women's Championship.
The Queen defended that against Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania last month and lost the title to her heel challenger. Since then, we haven't seen Flair on WWE TV despite the fact she was one of the first Superstars drafted to SmackDown during this past Monday's WWE Draft episode of RAW.
There's been some online chatter about Flair potentially entering a bodybuilding competition this summer, but she shared an update regarding her absence in a recent interview with Boardroom.
"When it comes to the business side, I feel as a performer, my position isn’t gonna change," Flair started, initially commenting on WWE's recent sale to UFC owners Endeavor. "Maybe if I was brand new, but my job as a performer is just to make who’s behind the headphones and gorilla happy, and then the fans."
"I don’t really get wrapped up in what’s happening there, but the sale is a big deal. I’ll be interested to see what happens in the future with Endeavor."
"For me, I went from having never any off-days to getting injured last year after WrestleMania and being off for seven months, and then now off again for a couple weeks for something that I needed to take care of, so it’s a blessing and a curse," she adds. "Like, no one wants to be injured, but having that first time off for that extended amount of time, I think was definitely healthy for my mindset."
It doesn't sound like Flair will be taking too much time off from WWE as she'd later admit that too much time away from the ring isn't fun.
"I like action, to be honest," she laughed, "but after a month or two, I was like, okay, what am I supposed to be doing? This isn’t fun. I had too much time to think."
We'll presumably see the Queen back in the ring before too long and a return to action in time for SummerSlam seems likely.
